GRANDMASTER JUN LEE

Grandmaster Jun Lee, a 9th Dan (degree), is the founding President of the Global Traditional Taekwondo Federation (GTTF). Grandmaster Jun Lee was born in South Korea and has been teaching Taekwondo in the United States since 1982. In 2015, he became the youngest person ever to achieve 9th Dan by Kukkiwon. His commitment to Taekwondo is to preserve the values and philosophy of traditional Taekwondo and to nurture the next generation of Taekwondo leaders who can carry on that mission.

He has a special sense of mission to build the much-needed infrastructure of Taekwondo, considering service - one of the five tenets of Taekwondo - as his life motto.

In 2021, Grandmaster Jun Lee was appointed as the first Kukkiwon Spokesperson for International Affairs since the establishment of Kukkiwon, where he has served ever since.

In 2008, he was elected as the President of the International Coalition for Good Health and Good Friends (ICG), a global community service organization for Taekwondo, and has been serving to build educational facilities in developing countries.

In 2023, Grandmaster Jun Lee and five other Taekwondo grandmasters from five countries, who shared concerns about the future of Taekwondo, gathered in Panama, South America. There, they trained together and deeply discussed the need to set the direction for the art. They pledged to take the lead in this movement and established the Global Traditional Taekwondo Federation (GTTF).

GTTF was founded in response to growing concerns among Taekwondo practitioners and masters regarding the increasing dominance of sport-focused Taekwondo in the public eye. While Sport Taekwondo has contributed to global recognition, many within the Taekwondo community have expressed concern over the diminishing emphasis on traditional values, discipline, and philosophical teachings that have historically defined Taekwondo.
